A) Adopting person(s) agree that the animal described above is being adopted solely as a pet for themselves and/or their immediate family. Therefore, as a PET, the animal is NOT to be bred under any circumstance. If an unintentionally breeding occurs the breeder, Little Paws Rattery is to be notified immediately, and a placement plan for the litter will be discussed and agreed upon. Should Little Paws Rattery, become aware of a breeding, through means other than the owner or if the pet was intentionally bred the owner will forfeit all rights of ownership and the breeder, Little Paws Rattery will have full rights to reclaim the above described pet, as well as any and all offspring produced by said pet.
B) Furthermore as a PET, the adopter will see to it that the rat is to be cared for in a humane and responsible manner; the rat will receive all care and attention necessary to ensure its health and well-being. The rat will be provided with a clean and adequately-sized cage (2 square feet per female rat 2.5 per male), and should not be kept on toxic bedding (cedar or untreated pine wood chips) or in an aquarium or tank of any type where adequate airflow is prohibited. If kept in a cage with a wire bottom or levels, they will be covered with appropriate nontoxic material to prevent injury to the rat. In addition to the appropriately sized cage the rat is to be housed in a temperature controlled environment, where it will not be exposed to the elements, predators, and/or other harmful animals/insects. Clean water, nutritious food, exercise, and veterinary care (when needed) are to be provided as well. The adopter will also provide companionship in the form of at least one same-sex or spayed/neutered cage mate, and sufficient human interaction for proper socialization and mental stimulation. Adopter will not permit young children to handle the rat without proper instruction and supervision.
C) Adopting person agrees that in the event the rat must be re-homed or if ever the adopter is unable to provide the necessary care (veterinary or other wise), he/she agrees to contact the breeder/seller, Little Paws Rattery, and allow said breeder the right of first refusal to take the rat back. Return of the rat is to be done by the buyer and at his/her expense. If the adopter has located a good home for the rat, it must be with the knowledge and consent of The breeder, Little Paws Rattery. The rat is not to be sold, given away, turned loose, abandoned, or otherwise disposed of to any person, retailer, pet store, dealer, institution, shelter, auction or other entity.
D) The breeder is to be notified if said animal develops a serious temperament problem, illness or chronic condition which may be genetic. Adopter understands that while the breeder sells no animals that have health issues at the time of placement, no guarantee is expressed or implied about the health or temperament of this rat. The breeder, Little Paws Rattery is hereby absolved from any liability for future damages or injuries caused by the above described animal and any veterinary bills incurred on behalf of said animals.
E) The breeder is to be notified at the time of the above named animal’s death with the date of death and a probable cause of death, if death was not naturally occurring due to old age.
